C.B.S Rules

1. The Society will be called Newark and District Cage Bird Society.
2. The object of the Society to be the promotion of interest in the breeding and exhibiting of all varieties of Cage Birds by holding regular meetings and organising shows open to the public.
3. Members of the Society to be open to all fanciers on the payment of an annual Subscription at a rate approved by the A.G.M.
4. Subscriptions are due on the 31st January annually.
5. Senior citizens to pay an annual subscription of £2.00
6. The funds of the society to be used to further the objectives outlined in rule 2 at the discretion of the committee.
7. The committee shall consist of the President, Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer, Show Manager, Show Secretary, Trophy Secretary, and two other committee persons appointed annually.
8. Vice Presidents and extra committee members may attend committee meetings in an advisory but Non-voting capacity.
9. Committee meetings to be arranged with a minimum of 7 days notice and when
Required 5 members to form a quorum.
10. In the event of a decisions being necessary at too short notice to call a committee meeting such decisions to be made by a Chairpersons committee, consisting of the Chairperson, or his/her deputy and two other officers. All such decisions to be reported at the next committee meeting.
11. The Secretary shall keep a minute book and record therein the proceedings of all meetings and see that these singed by the Chairperson.
12. The annual General Meeting shall be convened not later than 31st January for the following purposes:-
  •        To receive reports from the Secretary, Treasurer, (with details of the audited accounts), and Show Secretary.
  •        To elect officials and committee members.
  •        To elect an auditor.
  •        To discuss any matter relevant to the aims of the Society.
  •        To fix the rate of the subscription for the following year.
Nominations for the committee may be accepted for absent members only if the proposer can give an assurance that the nominee has been approached and is willing to stand for election.
All members present at the A.G.M to be full paid up.

13. Changes of the rules can only be made at the A.G.M. proposals for such changes including changes  to subscription rates must be made in writing and be seconded and forwarded to reach the Secretary not less than 14 days before the A.G.M. a two thirds majority of those present required for any rule change.
14. An extraordinary G.M. May be called on writing application to the Secretary by 5 members such application to state the reason for calling the meeting.
15.  In all foregoing a member shall be any such person who has paid his/her subscription for the current year.
16. Juniors are classed as juniors up to 31st December subsequent to their 17th birthday.
17. The society shall not be dissolved so long as 5 members can be found who are able and willing to undertake the duties and responsibilities required for the transaction and management of the society's business.
18.  All books and properties appertaining to the society shall remain the property of the said society. Any officer retiring from office shall return the same properties to the committee. All books of the society shall be produced at 14 days notice from the committee.
19. If there is any financial loss arising in the working of the society for 12 months the committee be empowered to levy each member and amounts such amount to be their share towards the deficiency.
20. The committee shall have power to expel any member working contrary to the society's interest.
